Closing one eye (C) also decreases your field of vision and can make it difficult to judge depth and distance. Turning on your high beams (D) can actually worsen the glare for the oncoming vehicle and can be dangerous for other drivers. Instead, looking at the right lane marking (B) allows you to maintain peripheral vision the road and stay on your side of the road while still being able to keep an eye on the oncoming vehicle.
